Dr. Nathaniel Podilsky Partners with Operation Smile Treating Cleft Conditions in Children Worldwide
According to the Canadian Association of Public Health Dentistry, in Canada between 400 and 500 children are born each year with cleft lip, cleft palate, or some variation of the condition. Treating these debilitating conditions requires a complex, multidisciplinary approach–something that too many people around the world don't have access to. With Operation Smile, we are striving to change that.
How Are We Helping?
Dr. Nathaniel Podilsky has always been passionate about helping those in need. He is affiliated with Smiles First Corporation, which is now collaborating with Operation Smile. This global non-profit medical charity is committed to providing care to children and adolescents affected by cleft lip, palate, and craniofacial differences.
With the help of medical and dental specialists, advocates, and other volunteers, Operation Smile provides free surgery to those in need. Already, they've treated more than 326,000 children and young adults.
Partnering with an organization that shares Dr. Podilsky's values has been incredibly rewarding. We know that these services can make an invaluable difference in patients' quality of life. It's just one way that we give back – and now we're excited to share how our patients can, too.
What Can You Do?
In order to raise awareness and raise funds, The Longest Day of SMILES™ is held each year. This year, on June 18th, we want to bring special recognition to our partnership with Operations Smiles, the incredible network of volunteers running it, and most importantly, to the recipients of this much-needed care.
